Rice's Creek - Winnabow, Brunswick County
If you don't want to see anyone else (except maybe a fisherman or two), this is the place to go. From Wilmington, take 17S to Governor's Road, just past Town Creek. Go about 1.5 miles and turn left on Gordon Lewis Road. The ramp is at the end of Gordon Lewis Road.
From the boat launch, you can go right or left. Going right will take you upstream until you run out of water, while going left will take you to Town Creek. This is an excellent beginner trip, with hardly any current and beautiful flora year-round.
